Danielle and Chris DeChant have always had an unbridled passion for animals and we decided to turn our passion into a career and created DK9 Dog Walking, a Seattle-based dog walking business in 2011. It was a wonderful 8 "bark-filled" years of truly the best career on the planet!
We have been in Port Saint Lucie since 2018 and have been VERY lucky to have known such wonderful dogs and their families! We are so excited for the opportunity to care for your Florida fur-babies! We run the business out of our home, in a supervised kennel free environment. All the dogs are welcome to roam, play and sleep everywhere in the house and yard. We want the dogs to feel like they are at home here with us.
We both have backgrounds in Law Enforcement and believe that the safety and security of your pets as well as your home and property are of the utmost importance. At Doggieville Daycare, our priority is your pets' safety and well being, all while having fun. We are licensed and insured. We are certified in Pet First Aid. Danielle has been a volunteer at the Seattle Humane Society in their Dog Behavioral Socialization Program as well as a Kitten Foster for The Humane Society of St. Lucie County. We have also been a foster family for a Seattle dog Rescue, 6dogrees Rescue. Danielle has dog training experience from a program that provides a positive dog friendly approach to training. If there are obedience issues that need to be addressed, she is qualified to help.
We adored our dog Maggie, a 16 year old Fox Terrier who passed in 2014. We admired her strength, stubbornness, love, and her ability to make us laugh. She enhanced and enriched our lives beyond description. Our current Crew are all rescues from California. Reagan, a Schnauzer/Terrier mix has such a happy soul. She loves her doggie buddies, walks, and finally fetches (Danielle had to train her). Riley, who recently passed away. Riley was Spit-Fire of a Chi/Terrier mix is THE funniest little dog we've ever met and we miss her dearly! Higgins, a Doodle mix has such a sweet soul and he is always there to take care of our crew. We saved our cat Bunker 3 years ago, he was abandoned by his mama out in the wild. We foster failed Lita and Rudy. These cats are all such funny creatures and we love having them interact with all the dogs in our care. We adore them all!
There is truly something special about rescuing an animal and our hearts are so full with Reagan, Riley, Higgins and Bunker in our lives.
